COWBOY CABBAGE IS
A PROPRIETORY BLEND of Parsley, Basil, Oregano and Mint leaves and similarly prepared
Herbs and Spices to replicate the taste of Skoal and Copenhagen smokeless
tobacco which I have been addicted to on numerous occasions. I developed this
recipe when I was a chef at an upscale hot springs resort in Pray, Montana.
Because after dipping Skoal and Coppenhagen for a few months or even a few weeks,
I would begin to get sores in my mouth, I would have to quit
and one day while struggling with this addiction, I noticed these big plastic
gallon jugs of all the herbs and spices we used and reached in pinched me a big
pinch and stuck it in my gum...it got bland after a few times so begin to
experiment with various mixtures until I hit upon one that replicated either
Skoal or Coppenhagen, producing the exact same burn and texture as smokeless
tobacco.
NOT ONLY DID IT WORK, I noticed that
everything I ate or tasted with it in my mouth, tasted five times better. Did some research and found that Parsley was
used as Wreaths around the neck in Roman days to hold down the funk and promote
well being. It is widely used in
restaurants as a garnish, but if you chop it up and mix it into your food, it
brightens even the drab’s dish up. Great
for your intestines, exceeding healthy which contains large amounts of Vitamin
C, antioxidant, keeps your breath smelling good. When I first created it I would place it in a
clean Skoal or Copenhagen container and carry around with me the same way I did
with Skoal, take it out and have me a big 'old dip and nobody was the
wiser...and there is no, or very little spitting because it taste to good to
spit out.
